Support
Sometimes it is hard for those who self injure to find support systems that are strong, judgement free, and relatable. Our Facebook group is one of those places.
To join our Facebook group, visit: http://www.facebook.com/groups/helpmethrowawaytheblade/
Our Facebook group is a support group that can offer you a safe place to speak about your struggles. There, you will find a great group of supportive people that have gone through, or are still going through the very same things you are. You can vent, rant, or connect with people like you. You will also be provided with people you can contact privately for support.
To join our email system, send an email to: [email protected]
And let the subject line read:
"friend/ family member" (to sign up for the friend/ family member loop)
"self injurer" (to sign up for the self injurer loop)
"both" (to sign up for both loops)
You will be automatically signed up and will receive a conformation email within 48 hours.
Our email system is new, and is still not completely up and running yet, however, it will officially launch within the next two months.
We offer two emailing loops: one for self injurers and one for friends and family members of self injurers. You are welcome to join one or both.
There, you will also be provided with private contacts for support and you will also receive supportive emails about success stories, similar struggles, and inspirational messages.
I welcome you to join one or both of the above networks. I assure you it is safe and secure, and your information will not be given out. You can choose to withdraw from either at any time you wish. Thank you for your interest.

Treatment for Self Injury
There are many ways to treat someone who self injures. The best way is through intensive therapy and sometimes medication for any underlying disorders. Group therapy can also be a great outlet for the person who self injures to find people who can relate to them. It is also ESSENTIAL for the person to have a good support system, which is relying and does not judge the person.
If you know someone who self injures DO NOT IGNORE IT. The person is NOT doing it to seek attention and needs professional help to stop. SPEAK UP. Tell a parent, teacher, or professional you know. It is important to get them help as soon as possible.
If you or someone you know has suicidal thoughts or feelings, do not keep quiet. The 24 hour suicide hotline numbers for the US are: 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433) and 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255).
